VAST (Video Ad Serving Template)
An XML document format describing an ad to be displayed in, over, or around a Video Player or a Wrapper pointing to a downstream VAST document to be requested.
Commonly text, display ads, Rich Media, or skins that wrap around the video experience. These ads come in different shapes and sizes. They typically run alongside or around the video player.
In ZEDO you can run up to five companion ads with a VAST ad, as long as the main ad is set up as Upload File and Retrieve From URL.
A VAST document that includes all the elements necessary to display the visual experience of the ad.
Linear Video Ad
The ad is presented before, in the middle of, or after the video content is consumed by the user, in very much the same way a TV commercial is played before / during / after the chosen program.
Non-linear Video Ad
The ad runs concurrently with the video content so the users see the ad while viewing the content. Non-linear video ads can be delivered as text, graphical ads, or as video overlays.
Environment in which in-stream video content is played. The Video Player may be built by the publisher or provided by a vendor.
A VAST document that points to another VAST document from a different server.
Streaming media is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider.
A progressive download is the transfer of digital media files from a server to a client. The user can begin playback of the media before the download is complete. If the rate of playback exceeds the rate of download, the media file will stutter or playback will stop.
Progressive download is similar to streaming media, but the digital file is downloaded to a physical drive on the end user’s device.
