ZEDO now supports VAST 3.0 and can now easily track events like Progress and Skip.

How to use SKIP event for your video campaign?

While trafficking video or 3rd Party VAST tags in ZEDO choose the “Skip” event from list of events.
Make sure your video player or publisher video player is VAST 3.0 compatible.
Target to inventory (channels) that will have VAST 3.0 compatible player.
Pull VAST 3.0 ad tags for required channels from Ad Tag Generator.

How to use PROGRESS event for your video campaign?

While trafficking video or 3rd Party VAST tags in ZEDO choose one of the pre-defined progress event from the list of events.
Make sure your video player or publisher video player is VAST 3.0 compatible
Target to inventory (channels) that will have VAST 3.0 compatible player
Pull VAST 3.0 ad tags for required channels from Ad Tag Generator.

Reporting on VAST 3.0 events

“Skip” and “Progress” events will be available under VAST reports. These events will be tracked ONLY if the VAST 3.0 tags are run in VAST 3.0 compatible player.

Compatibility with Players

The default VAST version in VAST response will be 2.0 as shown here. <VAST version=”2.0″>
Ad trafficker has the control to decide what version header should be added in the VAST response by ZEDO ad server. This decision should be based on VAST support of the publisher player.
If a publisher player only supports VAST 2.0 then the VAST 2.0 tag should be pulled for that channel.
If a publisher player supports VAST 3.0 then the VAST 3.0 tag should be pulled for that channel.

VAST response based on VAST version

Selection of VAST version while generating an ad tag only changes <VAST version=””> in the VAST response.

For Example:

Scenario 1:Sam wants to run an Ad with Skip Event on two sites. Site 1 uses VAST 3.0 player and Site 2 uses VAST 2.0 player

Sam generates VAST 3.0 tag from ZEDO and gives to both the sites
ZEDO VAST response for both tags will have a Skip option.
The campaign will serve with skip on site 1 while Site 2 will complain that the tag does not work.

Scenario 2: Sam sends VAST 3.0 tag from ZEDO to Site 1 and VAST 2.0 tag to Site 2

ZEDO VAST response for both tags will have Skip option
The campaign will serve with skip on site 1 and may not skip on site 2.

Scenario 3: Sam generates VAST 2.0 tag from ZEDO and gives to both sites

ZEDO VAST response for both tags will have Skip option
The campaign will serve on both sites. Skip functionality may or may not work depending player.
